Luc Alphand is an eclectic French sportsman: after becoming one of the most successful French ski champions, he is now distinguished by his victories in car racing and sailing.

Luc Alphand's skier career, which began with a junior ski world champion title in 1983, was hampered by numerous injuries. In 1993, he even hesitated to continue his career after suffering a serious knee injury.
